NYA launches youth councillors campaign




ISLAMABAD  - The National Youth Assembly (NYA) has launched a Youth Councillors campaign across the country to scoop a talented youth at grass-roots level in line with the local government system.
While talking to the APP, the President National Youth Assembly Hanan Ali Abbasi, who is recently nominated for “Sitar-e-Imtiaz” by the Government of Pakistan, said, “In order to enlarge NYA’s circle of humanitarian activities, we engage a broad numbers of youth as Youth-Councilors from more than 100 districts of the country”.
He said NYA has, so far, appointed 10,000 youth councilors at union council level, and is intended to achieve the target of 25,000 youth councilors by March 23, 2013. These Councilors are actually a team of volunteers, who take active part in philanthropic activities carried out by the National Youth Assembly.
The purpose of this campaign is to provide opportunity to maximise the youth representation at grassroots level in decision making process”, President said.
He further said, “The Councilors will carry out table talks, sessions, and different other activities performed by other members of the National Youth Assembly. They will work under the direct guidance and consultation of Local
Member of National Youth Assembly.”
Reflecting about the goals of NYA, he said, “The National Youth Assembly aims at providing such practical environment to the young segment of the society that can encourage them to realize their responsibilities towards humanity.
The concept of converging youth Councilors from all parts and parcels of the country is to involve youth in constructive and positive activities. We give high regards to our youth Councilors for their dedication and commitment to serve the humanity and nation.”
He also informed that the membership of the NYA was open for New Year, and any of the interested young adults could apply online through www.nya.com.pk.
Hanan said, “The National Youth Assembly during its two year terms has carried out many national and International activities including a visit to the National Assembly Pakistan, Provincial Assemblies of Punjab & Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Supreme Court of Pakistan, Election Commission Pakistan, sessions with the leaders of different political parties, motivational lectures at Islamia College University Peshawar, International Islamic University Islamabad, National Defence University, Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, Army Public College of Management Sciences, etc.
The NYA is one of the leading, self-dependent forums of the country, which has brought together future leaders from more than 120 Districts of the country. Personalities of international fame, like, Malala Yousafzai, nominee for international child peace prize; Amir Atlas Khan, an international squash player, Ibrahim Shahid (world record holder with 23 A’s in O levels), Saeeda Mirbaz Khan (International Essay Competition winner) and many other national, international youth achievers are now part of our organisation.
The NYA is also operating in the country with our four Youth  Governors;  who monitor and coordinate the provincial activities of NYA.”
