8 persons awarded life imprisonment

RAWALPINDI The Anti Terrorism Court (ATC), Rawalpindi No 1, on Friday awarded life imprisonment to eight outlaws including two women in a case of kidnapping for ransom. The ATC judge, Malik Muhammad Akram Awan also ordered to confiscate all their moveable and immovable assets. As per details, the eight persons had abducted Muhammad Asif and Sheraz Bhutti in 2006 and had demanded Rs 260 million as ransom for their safe release. The local police registered a case of abduction under section 365-A with the New Town Police Station and arrested the culprits involved in the heinous crime. The court awarded life imprisonment to all the eight persons after the allegations proved against them. The convicted persons included Noor Haider, Javed Ahmed, Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Fiaz, Abdul Jameel, Muhammad Shah, Nageena Bibi and Roheen Bibi. The same court gave a suspect into physical custody of Capital Police for six days. The Capital Police had arrested the suspect, Sikandar, from Faizabad area and recovered thousands of bullets, explosive devices and sophisticated parts of sub-machine guns from his possession.
