Islamabad - A German band MATEO Thursday performed at the lawn of German Embassy aimed at encouraging young Pakistani students to learn German language. Mateo very successful entertained the students of the Roots school Islamabad.
The programme was arranged by the Embassy of Germany in collaboration with the Gothic Institute while Mateo was selected by PopCamp, the German Music Council’s talent campus for young rock and pop musicians. MATEO’s five young members originate from Bautzen in Eastern Germany.
One of the most interesting aspects of MATEO’s music – besides their exciting sound and vibrant stage show – is the fact that they sing in German, following a tradition that was founded by legendary German rock stars Udo Lindenberg and Nina Hagen in the 70’s and shared by bands like Rammstein and Tokio Hotel in our days.
The guests also enjoyed snacks served on the occasion. Later, Head of Mission of German Embassy Felton also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the Pakistani students for their keenness to learn German language. The concert was organised with the objective of establishing a worldwide network of at least 1,000 partner schools having one thing in common: Teaching German language. “Schools: Partners for the future” initiative (PASCH) provides services to the students, teachers and schools in this regard.
