IHC issues notices in appeal against CNG supply restoration ruling

ISLAMABAD - Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday issued notices to the owners of CNG stations in an Intra-Court Appeal (ICA) moved by ministry of petroleum.
Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi issued notices to them and directed them to appear before the court on December 26 to submit their reply in a petition in which petroleum ministry has challenged a decision of a single bench of IHC related to the restoration of previous gas supply schedule.
During the proceedings, the counsel for the Ministry Khawaja Farooq Advocate argued that the country was faced with gas shortage in winter season, and restoring gas supply to CNG stations would badly hurt domestic consumers.
In the petition, he stated that court issued stay orders without hearing the ministry. Therefore, he prayed to the court to dismiss the relevant stay order.
On this juncture, Justice Qureshi remarked that the court could not dismiss its stay order and directed the owners of CNG stations on December 26 to hear their opinion.
After issuing these orders, the court deferred the hearing till December 26 for further proceedings.
