rawalpindi - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has issued show cause notice to Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Division, Dr Sardar Ghias Gull for not eliminating street crimes from his area.

The RPO also reprimanded the SP for not coordinating with his subordinates for evolving any comprehensive strategy to overwhelm the gangsters who have disturbed the lives of citizens.

The top police boss also asked the SP to improve his performance and hold meeting with his (SP) subordinates to evolve comprehensive crime control strategy or else departmental action would be initiated against him, reliable sources revealed to The Nation yesterday.

According to sources, RPO Wisal Fakhar while taking notice of increasing crime rate in Saddar Circle has served the SP with a show cause notice. In the show cause notice, a copy of which is also available with The Nation, the RPO stated that it was observed during a crime meeting held on 20/6/2016 that crime rate was up in Saddar Division.

A total of 16 murder cases had been lodged in the division during May 2016 nominating an accused and three others unknown persons. Of 16 cases, challans of 6 murder cases were completed and 8 were incomplete. Moreover, no serious effort was seen on part of the SP or his subordinates to arrest the killers, the RPO said.

Similarly, unknown gangs involving 14-armed robbers snatched Rs 323,000 from four citizens in May whereas police failed in recovering booty.

Similarly, the auto-thieves pilfered 4 cars, 10 motorcycles and 2 other vehicles from different areas of Saddar Division, the RPO said adding that police could arrest only one car lifter and recover 2 cars and 1 motorcycle.

“The crime statistics clearly show that you (SP Saddar) have not been taking interest in checking crime wave in your division and are not holding meetings with SDPOs and SHOs concerned to control crime. Moreover, you have failed in keeping check on the investigation officers (IOs) or do not give them guidelines to arrest the hardcore criminals,” read the notice.

The RPO asked the SP to control crime rate and submit report within 15 days. The progress would be checked separately and departmental action would be initiated against the SP in case of his failure to combat crime.
