Gang of thieves busted in Capital




ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad police on Monday arrested a gang of thieves that has been operating in the federal capital since years targeting houses of elite of Islamabad including foreigners and ambassadors.
According to the police, the same gang was involved in looting the house of Ambassador of Tunisia last month and had taken away Rs 900,000, a gold watch, two laptops and gold ornaments from their possession, a police spokesman said.
Eman Bangarah w/o Ahmed Bangarah, resident of sector F-6/1, lodged the theft report with Kohsar police station and a case was registered under section 380/457 PPC on August 10, 2012. Similarly, Dr. Habib ur Rehman, resident of sector F-6/4, also lodged another theft report with Kohsar police station on September 18 in this regard.
SSP Islamabad Yasen Farooq took serious notice of these theft incidents and assigned the task to SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas to trace out the thieves and recover the stolen items. A police team during its operation arrested four thieves besides recovering stolen valuables including Rs 900,000, a gold watch worth, two lap tops and gold ornaments from their possession.
The arrested thieves have been identified as Wasim Masih, Naveed Rasheed Masih, Abid Bilal, Asad Ullah. Further investigation in this regard is in progress.
