Islamabad-The Election Commission has registered 97 eunuchs as voters in Preliminary Electoral Rolls (PERs) in Rawalpindi, an official said yesterday.

Talking to APP he said, the registered members of the third gender can now contest elections of provincial, national or Senate elections.

According to PERs, total registered voters in Rawalpindi district are 2.283 million including 1.228 million male and 1.055 female voters. As many as 1,644 voters have died in last three years.

Population of Rawalpindi district has swelled to 3.7 million.

During Nadra’s Electoral Rolls’ verification campaign, National Database and Registration Authority has sent a list of 92,519 new voters out of which only 80,037 were verified during last month’s door to door vote verification campaign, while 12,482 voters were not verified by verification teams of the ECP.
