Islamabad - To pay rich tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis (survivors) of Army Public School (APS) Peshawar carnage, GSIS School & College organised an event titled “Book and Peace Go Together” here at Pak-China Friendship Centre as a part of National Book Day Festival.
Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Dr Saeed Elahi participated as a chief guest in the ceremony.  The event started with the tableau “Kitaab Ka Irtika” reflecting the different stages of book evolution from ancient to this modern world with their traditional attire of different centuries.
Young students of grade 6th and 7th received appreciation and were high applaud for their play “Kitaab aur Aman” highlighting the life of a student who loves book reading in contrast to a student  who is involved in social evils.
Urdu tableau on Dr Allama Iqbal’s famous poem “Ya Rab Dil e Muslim ko” was also a part of menu, a prayer of every Muslim and Pakistani for peace that we have been longing for many past years. Students marked their performance through English tableau on “Peace begins with books” and “Wizard of Oz” on stage.
Principal GSIS Qurat-ul-Ain Ali Rizvi on the occasion said, “The sacrifice of more than 140 students and their teachers will never go in vain, we will always remember the great courage and valour of martyrs and survivors of Peshawar massacre.
”Attacking children and children’s education is a disregard of the most fundamental principles of humanity and we reaffirm our strongest commitment to protect children’s right of education,” she mentioned.
