rawalpindi - Two unknown gunmen tried to kidnap three nurses of NESCOM hospital along with driver of the vehicle at Azeem Colony of Khayaban-e-Sir Syed Sector 4 in the limits of Pirwadhai police station, well placed sources disclosed to The Nation yesterday.

According to sources, three nurses of NESCOM hospital were going to their workplace in a white coloured Toyota Hiace (RIS-1562) when two gunmen intercepted the vehicle at Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Sector 4 at gunpoint.

The kidnappers shouted at the driver to move the vehicle or else they would shoot him. In the meanwhile, two nurses jumped out from the moving vehicle, sources said.

One of the nurses brought the matter into notice of higher authorities, which immediately traced out the location of the vehicle through tracker and located it near City Marriage Hall Asghar Mall Scheme. The authorities contacted the vehicle company and requested it to deactivate the tracker and turn off the engine.  The unknown gunmen abandoned the vehicle and managed to escape from the scene.

Interestingly, Pirwadhai police have not registered any case against the unknown kidnappers.

Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Pirwadhai Chaudhry Riaz told media that two armed culprits tried to snatch the vehicle from the driver and police foiled their attempt. He said that it was not the incident of kidnapping rather two culprits tried to snatch the vehicle.

 “We have recovered the vehicle,” he said, adding that one Malik Dilawar Rashid, owner of vehicle, tendered an application with police, stating that he did not want to initiate any legal action against the snatchers since police recovered his vehicle. SHO told that police have traced the culprits and teams were constituted to arrest them.

City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, when contacted and asked whether any terrorist organization tried to kidnap the nurses of hospital, replied it was not a kidnapping case rather simply a vehicle snatching attempt.
