Justice creates balance in society, says Justice Ejaz

ISLAMABAD - Supreme Court Judge Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan has said that administration of justice creates balance in society and judges who compromise integrity are destined to be degraded.
He expressed these views in the inaugural ceremony of one-week course on “Various Subjects inclusive National Judicial Policy and Role of District and Sessions Judge being Non-Financial Managers in Financial Management” for 20 district and sessions judges from all over Pakistan including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, here at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) on Monday.
Justice Ejaz Afzal has opined that judicial officers were some sort of divine out, some sort of engine which creates balance in the society saying, “Your wrong decisions, your unfair decisions bring imbalance and doom and destruction in the society.”
About importance and scope of judgeship, he said: The seat we occupy, the job we do, is, indeed, job of God and that of the holy prophets and those judges who compromise their integrity, they will be debased and degraded in this world also.”
“The Holy Quran and the teachings of the Holy Prophet (SAW) teach us never to compromise our integrity,” he elucidated. On the rationale behind the creation of this universe he said that the rationale of creation of this universe was nothing else but to reward. “Those who do good, they will be rewarded with eternal bliss in heaven and also in this world and those who will do evil, they will also be punished not only in this world but also in the life-hereafter” he elucidated.
Regarding the enforcement of Rule of Law and administration of justice he said: The enforcement of Rule of Law and administration of justice is such a job, which will take you up and up, if you did it fairly and honestly. And those who do it otherwise, they can’t escape the nemesis. They have to suffer, both, in this life and in the life hereafter.”
He opined that our problem was not fiscal and monetarily but our problem was moral. A great responsibility lies on your shoulders to enforce the rule of law and morality in the country. The enforcement of the rule of law demands from the judges to enforce it against the rich and the poor, a friend and a foe. Judges should not have look here and there, they should not have to look to the left and right but they have to look into the lis and decide the case fairly and honestly as per law. Once we enforce the rule of law in the country at every level and at every stage then we can achieve new heights of progress and prosperity.
About the importance of learning he quoted the noble words which the last Prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) used to recite which read as “ Rabb Zidni Ilma” (Oh My Lord, Increase My Knowledge.”
“This Quranic verse, which the Holy Prophet (SAW) recited till his last breath, speaks of importance of acquiring knowledge. The Academy has provided you a platform now interact with each other and learn from each others experience, knowledge and wisdom.
Calling the heads of district judiciary as the champions of rule of law and the champions of human rights, honorable judge of the apex court said that holy prophet (SAWW) had taught with his actions and examples that we should not look at the position and influence of a person, we should not look into the face of a person but we have to look into the lis and have to enforce human rights, enforce the rule of law and administer justice in the society.
Earlier, DG of the Academy presented his welcome speech and spoke about the importance of the training on course on “financial management” for heads of district judiciary.
Hashim Abro, spokesman of the Academy says that twenty district and sessions judges are undergoing this one-week training here at the Academy from all over Pakistan.
