Pakistan fails to store water in past 45 years: Experts

ISLAMABAD  - On the concluding session of a three-day workshop on the occasion of World Water Day, experts said that Pakistan has done nothing to store water in past 45 years.
The workshop titled Framing Responses: Journalists’ Workshop on Climate Change Impacts and Challenges was organised by Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) Pakistan in collaboration with Heinrich Boll Stiftung in Islamabad.
The experts were of the opinion that countries in South Asia are committed to storing water but Pakistani authority is busy making reports but not translating them into action.
The purpose of the workshop was to discuss how climate change can affect South Asia region and what can be done at a local and possibly a regional level through media awareness and action planning at micro and macro level.
The experts included Former Chairman WAPDA Shams ul Mulk, Former Minister of  State Malik Amin Aslam, Dr. Pervaiz Amir, environmental expert, Dr Aurangzeb Khan Chief Environment Planning Commission, CEO LEAD Pakistan Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, eminent Journalist from India & Pakistan and various other representatives of national and international organisations working on water and climate related issues.
