Islamabad - The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) busted various gangs involved in smuggling narcotics abroad and arrested 10 smugglers, informed ANF headquarters spokesman here on Saturday.
Two vehicles were also taken into custody by the ANF, he added. The ANF operated against drug mafia in Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi and seized 53.6-kg heroin, hashish, opium and methamphetamine (ice), he said, adding that the value of narcotics was Rs 54 million in the international market.
According to him, ANF Rawalpindi busted a drug trafficking organisation at Attock and recovered 3.6-kg heroin. During the operation four persons were arrested who were later identified as Zahid Akhtar, Adeel, Masood and Faisal, all residents of Hassanabdal. He said that the detainees were local distributors of narcotics.
Similarly, ANF Lahore busted a gang involved in smuggling narcotics abroad. The gang was apprehended on the basis of intelligence-led operation at Sialkot, which resulted in recovery of 25-kg methamphetamine (ice) and 48-kg off-white heroin. In this connection two persons were also arrested and two cars were confiscated. ANF Karachi carried out a raid and arrested M Paryal from Sehwan and recovered 8-kg hashish from his possession. Three others were also arrested in separate operations. Separate cases were registered with ANF police stations against the detainees, who were being grilled by investigators, he added.
