Islamabad - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will play its due role to facilitate the public gatherings and processions during the holy month of Muharram and make available all civic facilities to the participants of the processions.
This was stated by Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal while chairing a high-level meeting which discussed arrangements for the upcoming Muharram. The chairman has nominated director general administration as focal person from CDA, who will coordinate with the district administration and all other concerned departments during Muharram-ul-Haram. He directed the environment wing of the authority to trim trees on the routes of Muharram processions to make passage safe and avoid any inconvenience. Similarly, he directed for removal of shrubs and bushes on the routes and cleanliness of nullahs in the vicinity and routes of religious gatherings to provide participants a cleaner environment.
The chairman CDA also directed the engineering wing to carry out repair work immediately on the routes of processions to facilitate movement. He directed the engineering wing to make all the streetlights fully functional in and around the Imambargahs and at all the designated routes of the processions to save the participants from any inconvenience.
The chairman also directed the sanitation directorate to devise a comprehensive plan for cleaning and collection of garbage from the routes of processions and places of gathering /Imambargahs to provide healthy and safer environment to the participants. Special teams would be constituted to check all kinds of wall chalking and banners with hatred material and if noticed, they would be removed immediately.
He further directed to check manholes on the routes and surroundings of the gatherings and ensure that these should be covered properly. The ambulance service and fire vehicles will also be ensured and deputed at various places of gatherings and along the processions.
