Islamabad - Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Tahir Alam Khan, has warned that action would be taken against organisers of religious gatherings and processions if the participants violated the set route and did not observe timing, as the local police have decided to take strict security arrangements for 177 processions and 909 Majalis during the month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
He said action would also be taken under amplifier act if big loudspeakers were used. He issued directions to the concerned security departments to tighten security in the capital to avoid any untoward incident. He warned that those creating law and order situation in Muharram would be charged under section 107/151 of the CrPC, says a press release. He further said that those creating law and order situation would be arrested for one month under maintenance of public order. Police have been directed to monitor activities and movements of the leaders of the organisations whose entry is banned in Islamabad during Muharram.
Moreover, different wings of police have been directed to keep close coordination, give full covering to processions, allow participants’ entry to Majalis through walkthrough gates and remove hatred wall chalking. All bazaars and streets in the way of procession and Majalis will be closed and vehicles will not be allowed in the surrounding for processions.
The organisers of the processions have been directed to get route clearness certificate from the SHOs of the relevant police stations. Police would also monitor movement of people in slums, hotels, guesthouses and bus stations. Traffic police have also chalked out special plan for smooth movement of the processions.
