Hilal-e-Ahmar chapter to appear in AIOU syllabus

ISLAMABAD - The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will include Red Crescent Chapter (Hilal-e-Ahmar) in its primary and secondary level syllabus to motivate the students and boosting volunteerism in the country.
This was stated by the Vice Chancellor of the AIOU Prof Dr Nazir Sangi while addressing the award ceremony in honour of the students who won international awards and bring laurels to the country.
The university and PRCS will also sign an MoU in the near future. 
Speaking on the occasion, PRCS Secretary General Dr Mahboob Sardar, appreciated the AIOU Management for honoring and acknowledging the youth competencies and contributions and motivating them to bring further laurels for the beloved Pakistan.
"Our volunteers form the backbone of the PRCS activities.  The Society have a committed base of 253,000volunteers that have come from every nook and corner of Pakistan representing the communities that they live in; it is for this reason that the PRCS has acceptability with everyone and everywhere in Pakistan.
Be it FATA, Awaran or no-go areas in the urban centers, the volunteers of the PRCS are welcomed with open arms.
The PRCS volunteers have won laurels at international level and in 2011 the PRCS was awarded the "International Volunteering Development Award" from amongst the 189 Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies.
To add further laurels to the accomplishments of our youth and volunteers, last year in 2013, in an International Competition titled "Youth on the Move", Project Proposal submitted on "Health Wealthy Pakistan" by one of our volunteers who is also student of AIOU, Ms Nazia Mazhar's project was adjudged as the best proposal from amongst 189 National Societies.
AIOU VC Dr Nazir Sangi said that the university is imparting education to over 1.4 million students all over the country. The doors of this mega university are open for each and every citizen of Pakistan and even for the foreigners living in the territory of Pakistan. The university provides education of international standard at the doorsteps of the students with an affordable cost.
He appreciated both the students of the University for winning awards at international level and bring laurels to the country. Dr Nazir said that AIOU will work closely with the Red Crescent and other humanitarian organization to boost voluntary services in the country.
