RAWALPINDI - Iranian musicians visited Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) here on Friday. The delegation comprised Mehmood Anis Gul, Hasan Bakhi, Muhammad Ali, Hussain and Hadi and was led by Wajeehullah Ahangar. Dr Sahmim Zaidi Chairperson, Department of Communication Sciences welcomed the audience and the guests on behalf of the Vice Chancellor FJWU Prof Dr Saeeda Asadullah Khan. The cultural troupe amused the audience with its fabulous performance and played on different traditional and famous musical instruments of Iran like Santor, Tar, Kamanchi, Tarbus and Duf. Mehmood Gul was the lead vocalist while Hadi played Duff. The musical group of Iranian Cultural Consulate, Embassy of Iran, is on a visit to Pakistan as part of Nowraiz celebrations to welcome the spring season. Iran has thousands of years old history, which is culturally rich and holds impressive traditions in music as well. The group mesmerised the audience with their beautiful performance. A large number of students and faculty members were also present on the occasion and enjoyed the cherished performance a lot. The folk songs were also appreciated by the audience. At the end, Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Prof Dr Samina Amin Qadir presented university souvenirs to delegates as a token of appreciation.
