SBP late advice led to banks' refusal to accept 60pc of electric bills

Sate Bank of Pakistan (SBP) advice in writing reached late in several banks, which led to their refusal of accepting payment of 60 percent of the electricity bills, while the people suffered for no fault of their own. Different banks across the country have refused to receive payment of 60 percent of the electricity bills from the consumers. The bank staff said that they have not received any such notification from SBP. TV report said that such a situation existed at several places in the country, while several banks in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have received the notification for receiving 60 percent of the electricity bills as against that others claimed not to have received the orders in writing.
