RAWALPINDI – The gangs of auto-thieves, robbers, dacoits and criminals have been ruling the roost in the city for the last 72 hours by lifting four vehicles and four motorcycles, snatching a car and cash, burgling Rs 50,000 and mobile phones from a shop while gold and other valuables from a house.
A man is reportedly missing from the area of Police Station Bunni whereas a woman was rapped within the limits of PS Cannt on Wednesday.
However, police doing nothing except taking up cases on the complaints of the victims, besides launching investigation, something seeking strong attention of City Police Officer Azhar Hameed Khokher. The citizens also expressed their deep concerns over the sky-touching crime rate in the city and appealed to CPO to hold the reigns of the defiant station house officers concerned, especially SHO Police Station Saddar Berooni Malik Sohail Zafar whose area has become the save heaven for the drug sellers, robbers, dacoits, flesh traders and gamblers.
According to details, several areas of PS Sadiqabad remained on the hit list of dacoits and carjackers as two unidentified robbers barged into the shop “Ittehad General Store” and looted Rs 50,000 and two mobile phones at gunpoint. The victim owner Sajid Zaman informed area police about the incident.
Similarly, gangs of auto-thieves have pilfered car (UY-187) of Noor Ahmed; Majid Khan’s Mehran car (UY-433) and motorcycles of Nasir Iqbal (MNT-6061), Muhammad Shuhaib (RIN-5645), Kamran Khan (RIN-335) and motorcycle of Hassnain Mehmood bearing registration number RIO-1481.
Whereas, another citizens Moheen Ghafoor informed PS Sadiqabad officials that four unidentified dacoits carrying sophisticated weapons snatched his car and Rs 3500 cash when he was returning to his home at 1:30am. From the area of PS RA Bazaar, car of Muhammad Imran Haider (RIA-602) has been pilfered by the vehicle lifters.
A citizen Tariq Mehmood appeared before PS New Town and lodged a complaint that unknown vehicle lifters picked up his Suzuki Carry van bearing registration number JG-177.
Some unknown robbers broke into a house, located at Latif Lane, Kalyal Village, and looted 5 tolas of gold, Rs 70,000 cash and other valuables to the tune of thousands of rupees.
According to Muhammad Jamil Bhatti, the owner of the house, he along with his family went to meet his relatives by locking the house. He added that in his absence robbers entered into the house and made off with Rs 70,000 cash, 5 tolas of gold and other valuables.
A woman namely Fozia Maqbool lodged complaint with PS Bunni that her husband Maqbool Maseh left his home in his taxi cab (IDT-9369) to earn livelihood but on 17/9/2012 but did not return. Police, taking action, lodged a case and started investigation. Sub Inspector (SI) Jahangir, who is interrogating the case, when contacted, said that police received information that the taxicab of missing Maqbool was parked in a deserted place at Jhang Bahter. “Now, I am standing near the taxi cab and will bring it back to Rawalpindi. But no clue was found about Maqbool” he added.
A woman was rapped allegedly by a man in a local hotel at Saddar while PS Cannt registered a case on the complaint of victim lady and launched investigation.
According to police a woman namely Rehana Bukhari, 35, resident of Attock, lodged a complaint that she was divorced by her husband and is living alone. She added that a man Abdul Aziz, who always treated her as a brother being a divorced lady, taken her to Rawalpindi from Attock saying he would hire a house for her. She claimed that first Aziz took her to Soan where they lived for couple of days. After that the accused rented a room in Al-Shamas Hotel at Saddar, gave her intoxicated food last night and raped her.
