Kaira for promoting reconciliatory politics

ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira has urged the leadership of political parties to promote and strengthen politics of reconciliation to counter the forces of hatred and disunity, said a press release on Thursday. Pakistan is passing through a critical juncture, which has given us a unique opportunity to reshape the destiny of our country and the people. Building a better future for Pakistan requires all democratic and progressive political forces of the country to demonstrate a unity of purpose and will, Kaira said. The federal minister also said that the PPP-led coalition government was striving hard to nurture a culture of reconciliatory and democratic politics by creating and ensuring democratic and tolerant space for all political parties of the country. Unfortunately, political history of Pakistan carries a heavy baggage of blood and bitterness that needs to be reconciled and overcome so that we can create a strong and secure country for our children, said Kaira. If political wrangling over bitter and divisive past politics continues it will negatively impact our concerted efforts to clean the mess left by the non-democratic and non-representative forces. Rather, we need to move forward and tackle the real issues faced by the country with a collective wisdom of all democratic political forces, he added. Kaira also expressed hope that the senior leadership of all political parties would promote restraint amongst their parties and not encourage blame-games that could deviate them from addressing real issues.
