ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Sports Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani will distribute Rs.1.78 millions among the national athletes on February 10 at Jinnah Hall Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. Minister will award cash prizes to the medal winners of the third Commonwealth Youth Games, first Asian Beach Games and Beijing Paralympics 2008 in a colourful ceremony. Pakistani athletes won two silvers and one bronze medal in the 3rd Commonwealth Youth Games, which were held at Pune, India from October 12 to 18, 2008. The first Asian Beach Games were held at Bali, Indonesia from October 18 to 26, 2008 and Pakistan claimed two gold in the handball and wrestling's competitions, two silvers in kabaddi and wrestling and three bronzes in bodybuilding and wrestling. Haider won first ever silver-medal in long jump in Beijing Paralympics Games 2008, which were taken place September 6 to 17. A sum of Rs.17, 80, 000 will be distributed amongst the medal winners of the international sports events.
