About 6184 IDP patients provided medical treatment

Doctors at the medical camps set up by Railway General Hospital (RGH) in Mardan examined and provided treatment to 6184 internally displace patients during past one month. The RGH doctors set up as many as 39 camps at different places during past one month to provide medical treatment to displaced persons at their doorsteps, RGH spokesman said here on Sunday. RGH with the help of international NGO Helping Hand provided medicine worth of Rs. 0.7 million to the patients, he said adding that the Helping Hand also provided two ambulances for providing immediate relief to the patients besides hosting the medical camps. About seven patients were sent to RGH for further treatment and four of them were operated upon. The hospital management also organized a Paeds Specialized Medical Camp at the entrance of Jalalah Refugee Camp which was headed by Associate Professor Dr. Tahir Ch. Five male and five female doctors participated in this camp treated about 1455 patient and provided medicines of Rs. 78,000 to them. Besides the mobile units, RGH also opened its doors for IDP patients, he said adding that till June 18, around 75 IDP patients reported to hospital OPD and 23 patients were admitted in different wards for medical treatment. Students of Medical Faculty of IIMCT and other different faculties of Riphah International University collected donations and distributed relief goods including utensils, water cooler, bed sheets, clothes, shoes, Mospil, Food Stuff and Chatties of Rs.0.5 million for the displaced persons. On the other hand, the hospital administration distributed relief goods including atta, pulses, ghee, sugar and rice of worth Rs. 1.1 million among 850 families that were residing in villages of Mardan Division. IIMCT, Railway General Hospital Rawalpindi had also established a tent basti comprised of 20 tents, with all the basic necessities, at Jundo near Thakhat Bahi in collaboration with Helping Hand.
