IHC bars administration, police from arresting PTI workers

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) again ordered Islamabad administration not to arrest political workers and called upon the government to de-containerize the city.

Hearing a petition against the arrest of political workers, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui forbade the administration to arrest the workers henceforth.

Ordering to remove all containers from the city, Justice Siddiqui directed the district administration to specify under what charges the political workers were arrested.

It should be mentioned here that PTI’s youth convention was raided yesterday by security personnel consisting of Islamabad Police and Frontier Constabulary.

The court directed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government to abide by the judicial order. The court also stayed the government from harassing the PTI workers.

The PTI assured to implement the judicial order and pledged before the court that Imran Khan will appear before the court.

PTI spokesman Naeem-ul-Haq asserted that administration will not implement the judicial order.

“We do not know even the identities of our workers arrested by the government,” he added.
