Anti-Pakistan speech: Court orders CPO to book Altaf

Rawalpindi-Additional Sessions Judge Hassnain Raza yesterday ordered city police officer Rawalpindi to register a case against founder of MQM Altaf Hussain for his diatribe against military establishment and chanting anti-Pakistan slogans during his speech on August 22.

The judge issued these orders in response to an application moved by Malik Saleh Advocate under section 22-A, stating police are not entertaining his application regarding a case against Altaf Hussain. According to details, the court issued directions to the CPO Rawalpindi to register a case against Altaf in accordance with law. He also directed the CPO to submit a report after filing the case. Earlier, Malik Saleh Advocate had filed an application through his lawyer Sheikh Ahsan Uddin in which he stated that Altaf launched his tirade against Pakistan Army, Rangers and also raised anti-Pakistan slogans during his telephonic speech. He argued he had submitted a written application with police station Civil Line for registration of a treason case against Altaf but police did not entertain his complaint.

He prayed to the court to order police to file a case against Altaf.
