ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday thanked Army Chief General Raheel Sharif for providing land for construction of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Karachi.
Khan took to twitter and expressed gratitude to the army chief for allocating the land in Defence Housing Authority (DHA). According to details, 20 acres land has been provided for the hospital. The hospital and research centre is a non-profit entity which aims to provide free treatment to cancer patients without any discrimination. The hospital was first started in Lahore in 1994 while a second cancer treatment hospital was opened in Peshawar in 2015. The PTI chief said that the construction of the new hospital will start in a few months.
