RAWALPINDI – On the call of Mutahida Mahaz-e-Usatiza, hundreds of teachers of Punjab educational institutions took out a protest rally on Benazir Bhutto Road (BBR) against Punjab government for not accepting their charter of demands here on Wednesday.
Led by MMU Chairman Syed Zahoor Hussain Shah and District Vice Chairman Basharat Iqbal, the teachers (both male and female), carrying placards and banners mentioning words in favour of their demands, also chanted slogans against Punjab government.
The presence of such a large number of teachers on BBR triggered a massive gridlock posing hardships for commuters and pedestrians.
According to details, the teachers gathered outside Rawalpindi and Islamabad Press Club (RIPC) and held a protest demonstration against the non-acceptance of their CoD by the Punjab government. The teachers bellowed slogans against Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif and other high ups of the government.
Speaking to the protestors, MMU office-bearers said that CM Punjab promised for mitigating the problems of the teachers some moths before, however, till now nothing was done on the side of Punjab government.
They said that officials of educational directorate were ignoring the teachers and not holding meetings with them for the solution of their problems. They said that they would continue their protest until the acceptance of their demands.
They said that the government should pay heed towards the maladies being faced by the teachers.
After, the protestor took out a rally and reached outside office of EDO Education while marching on BBR where the enraged teachers also chanted slogans against EDO Education and other big wheels of Punjab government. Tight security arrangements were made by law enforcement agencies on the occasion to avoid any untoward incident.
