ISLAMABAD - The secretary interior has been asked to approach secretary finance for the release of four months pending salaries of staffers of Directorate of Immigration and Passports posted in Pakistani missions abroad.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan yesterday took notice of non-payment of salaries to officials of passport office posted abroad for last four months.
He directed secretary interior to approach secretary finance for resolution of this issue permanently. In a statement issued here by the Ministry of Interior, the minister showed his displeasure and said how officials posted abroad could perform their duties in an efficient manner without release of their salaries.
The minister has also directed the high-ups of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and Directorate of Passports to improve the services being provided to overseas Pakistanis abroad. “Overseas Pakistanis have complained to the minister during his recent visit abroad about the issues in biometric and online registration,” the ministry said in a separate statement quoting the minister and added:
“The high-ups of NADRA and passport office have been asked to address these complaints,” it added. The minister also directed that any officer posted aboard if found involved in corrupt practices or creating hurdles for the community should be immediately asked too report back to the country and served with a charge sheet.
