ISLAMABAD - The Saudi government has sent medicines for internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency.The consignment, weighing 15,000 kilograms arrived earlier this week, was handed over to the ministry of national health services and coordination. The consignment is a gift from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the people of Pakistan, the ministry officials said. It includes all kinds of medicines and would be a great help for the displaced people living in camps.Earlier in June last, the Saudi government had gifted one million doses of polio vaccine to Pakistan.APP adds: The DIK district administration is taking solid steps to extend relief to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan staying here with distributing, 24,363 food and 12,282 non-food items among 5,985 families, so far.According to an official report the 5985 families receives the assistance in three government assistance centers at DIK, Parova and Pharpur tehsils.Similarly, as many as 3,025 displaced families have received the amount with Rs 8000 each family through 30 UBL and Omni points, across the district, so far under Esaar-e-Pakhtunkhwa project.As far as healthcare facilities are concerned, the report reveals that gastro, allergy and water-borne diseases are common among the IDPs and today 127 patients were treated in the three assistance centers.In these three Government Assistance Centers, so far a total of 7370 patients have been provided medical treatment, besides medicine provided on the post. Regarding polio-campaign for the IDPs, the document says 3413 children were vaccinated during the three day drive with coverage of 97 percent coverage.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
