Call for awareness on child protection rights

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Federal Minister for Social Welfare and Special Education, Samina Khalid Ghurki has called for creating awareness among the masses to protect children rights for promoting the best interest of the children through facilitative environment. Talking to a delegation of UNESCO at her office here Thursday, the Minister stressed the need for creation of a child friendly society that places children at the center of development, recognize their individuality, respect and value their voice and protect them from violence, abuse and exploitation. The 3-member delegation was led by UNESCO Country Representative, Martin Mogwanja while other members included Chief Child Protection, United Nations Children Fund, Smaranda Popa and Assistant Child Protection Officer, Manan Rana. The visiting delegates assured full support of UNESCO in providing technical assistance and policy making for the betterment of children in the country. The Minister said that ministry of Social Welfare will formulate a National Policy.
