Islamabad - The 8th Inter-Provincial Education Ministers’ Conference (IPEMC) was held yesterday where representatives from all provinces showed mutual consent to pave way for betterment of education sector in future.
Subjects of education programme like brick kiln worker in Punjab, public schools sports programme, teachers training programmes, monitor and evaluation programme, reforms in non-formal education in Sindh were brought under discussion in the conference.
Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) talking about the recent developments in teacher education and scholarship programmes said that the old system of BED is now being replaced with a new setup which will be soon be implemented.
According to him, the new plan will include Research institutes for educational planning, removal of multi-grade teaching, establishment of first girls cadet college in KP, 5 years education sector plan, EMIS first census and real time monitoring in 6 districts as a pilot project in Balochistan.
Joint Education Advisor Rafiq Tahir also briefed the forum about the recent developments in the federal ministry.
He said that 2 workshops have been conducted on national curriculum framework so far.
Five subjects (English, Urdu, math, social sciences and science) have been proposed to be included in the framework. First draft of it would be sent soon to the provinces for their comments and then it would be tabled at 9th IPEMC.
Chairman FBISE Dr Ikram also gave presentation of FBISE and its new system of one window operations.
Conference was attended by Ibrahim Sanai (Education Minister GB), Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal (Education Minister Balochistan), Federal Education Secretary Human Khan, Chairman HEC Dr Mukhtar, Chairman FBISE Dr Ikram, JEA Rafiq Tahir, Provincial Education Secretaries, additional secretaries, and officials.
Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Mir Ghazanfar Khan while concluding the conference admired and congratulated all the participants on arranging and participating in the conference.
