Shuttle train service in twin cities on the cards

ISLAMABAD - Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Pakistan Railways are launching a joint venture to run shuttle train between Rawalpindi Railway Station and Golra Sharif.
The decision was taken by the CDA and railways authority in a meeting held in CDA Headquarter the other day. Senior officials of the CDA and Railways were present in the meeting. The meeting has decided that 1-9 railway station, which is now being used as a dry port would be upgraded for passenger train service.
Meanwhile, it was said in the meeting the 1-9 railway station would be linked with 9th Avenue by laying railway track while the CDA would build bus terminal at that point and from there bus service would be ply for Blue Area, Secretariat and several other destinations.  During the meeting it was decided that the railway track would be laid down between 9th avenue and Faisal Avenue in second phase of the project.
Meanwhile, security has been placed on high alert at Rawalpindi and Chaklala Railway stations after the bomb explosion in Sibbi Railway station. IG Railways has directed for deployment of police constables and commandoes at the entrance and platforms of stations who will strictly monitor all activities.
While all close circuit cameras have also been installed to monitor any suspicious activity. Lady police constables have also been deployed.
