ISLAMABAD - The federal government has appointed a senior officer of the Police Services of Pakistan Shaukat Hayat as new Inspector General of National High and Motorway Police.
The outgoing IG National Highway and Motorway Police Saleem Bhatti has also been posted as senior member of Prime Minster Inspection Commission. Sleem Bhatti was posted IG NH&MP after the retirement of Zulifqar Cheema last year. The Establishment Division issued the notifications of the appointments of both officers but Shaukat Hayat did not resume the charge of his new office so far.
Shaukat Hayat is a notable police officer and previously he was serving as Additional Inspector General Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sleem Bhatti also served in Gilgat Balitistan as Inspector General Police and in different cities of Punjab in different capacities. Official sources informed The Nation that Establishment Division moved the summary of three PSP officers to PM house for the slot last week but the PM gave the approval of Shaukat Hayat as new IGNH&MP on Monday.
