PPP to form next govt in AJK: Ashraf

ISLAMABAD - Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf yesterday said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will form the next government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Speaking at a news conference here, Ashraf said PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address a mammoth rally in Mirpur today.

“The people of AJK voted for us before and they will vote again for us now. We will form the next government in AJK,” he said.

Ashraf said some ministers were using derogatory language against the PPP leadership which will not be tolerated.

“Some ministers must mind their language. They are maligning the PPP leadership. We cannot allow this,” he added.

He said the government had promised to end load-shedding in three months but three years had passed without any result.

Ashraf said the PPP-led government had raised the public employees’ salaries by 30 percent but the present government was not ready to give any benefit to the common man.

He prayed for the health of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif saying: “We don’t have a provision for a Deputy PM so we need the PM back soon.”

Ashraf said the PPP wanted a fair probe into the Panama leaks scandal. “We are not against anybody, we only want a fair investigation,” he added.

The PPP leader sought an apology from those who he said registered fabricated cases of corruption against Asif Ali Zardari. He said Zardari had faced the fabricated cases for 18 years.
