Islamabad - Capital Development Authority (CDA) would operate feeder buses on the Metro routes to improve the overall traffic facilities in the federal capital.
The Authority is in advance stage of planning to run 22 buses covering major routes and areas of the city to facilitate the residents. On the designated routes, a bus will operate after 30 minutes.
The process for selection of the bus operators is likely to be commenced in December and it is expected that the feeder routes would be operational within four months time. The initial estimate for operation and maintenance of the feeder buses is Rs200 to Rs250 million per annum.
The transparent process for hiring of the bus operators for operation and maintenance of the buses would be carried out at the earliest.
It is expected that the buses would not only facilitate the commuters embarking the Metro Bus Service but also the general public. The Authority has planned four routes for this purpose.
First route would be from Bhara Kahu upto Marghazar Zoo covering Dhokri, Aabpara, Federal Government Services Hospital (Policlinic) and F-6 Sector.
The second route would be from Rawat to Faisal Mosque. Third route would be from Tarnol upto Fatima Jinnah (F-9) Park/Ibn-e-Seena road metro station and would cover Sector G-13 and in between areas of G and F series Sectors including Markaz G-9 (Karachi Company). The fourth route would operate upto I.J Principal road metro station starting from Railway Carriage Factory.
Meanwhile, Capital Development Authority (CDA) has completed repair and maintenance of 34 out of total 37 water filtration plants in the Capital city. To ensure provision of safe drinking water to the residents, water samples of 25 water filtration plants have been tested.
CDA is collaborating with Pakistan Council of Research for Water Resources (PCRWR) for quality testing of the water is being provided through these filtration plants.
The CDA has earlier decided to upgrade all existing water filtration plants and allocated Rs16.67 million for the up-gradation and maintenance operation of water filtration plants in the city.
Moreover, survey for identification of sites to install more water filtration plants particularly in densely populated residential areas and busy shopping centres of the city has also been completed and work on the installation of new water filtration plants would be started soon after the completion of codal formalities.
CDA management has directed the water management wing to complete the up-gradation and maintenance of remaining filtration plants on immediate basis and utilize all available resources for early completion of the project. CDA management has reiterated that the authority would ensure the provision of clean drinking water in the city and will take all possible measures in this regard.
Daily complaints for provision of water through tanker service have decreased and the regular supply mechanism has been made more effective.
