ISLAMABAD - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday initiated five inquiries against ex-federal minister Firdous Ashiq Awan, Senator Azam Khan Hoti, MNA Rana Muhammad Ishaq, ex-MPA Qasim Zia and former Secretary Housing Zaki Ullah, for misuse of power and corruption.
The decisions were taken during the executive board meeting (EBM) of the NAB that was held at National Accountability Bureau headquarters.
Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry presided over the meeting.
The first inquiry was authorised against Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan. In this case the accused is alleged for illegally detaining 12 government buses for her private use and illegal appointments in Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).
The second inquiry was authorised against Senator Azam Khan Hoti, his wife Humera Kash Azam and others.
In this case the accused are alleged for illegal banking transactions and corruption of Rs 128 million.
The third inquiry was authorised against MNA Rana Muhammad Ishaq and others.
In this case the accused are alleged for embezzlement and misappropriation of Rs 500 million from tehsil Pattoki Council Funds.
The forth inquiry was authorised against Qasim Zia, ex-MPA, Ali Usman, chief executive officer (CEO)/director, and Khalid Anwar and Rana Zahid, directors of Stock Brokerage Pvt Ltd.
In this case the accused are alleged for cheating public at large and misappropriation of Rs 107.7 million received from general public in the name of stocks.
The fifth inquiry was authorised against Zaki Ullah, former secretary housing (presently OSD), the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). In this case the accused is alleged for accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income.
The executive board authorised a complaint verification (CV) against Maulana Abdul Wasay, ex-provincial minister Balochistan.
