Turkish army chief calls on Gen Raheel

ISLAMABAD - Chief of Turkish General Staff, General Hulusi Akar, yesterday held a meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and discussed measures to further defence cooperation between the two countries.
According to ISPR, matters of mutual interest, including military to military relations, regional security situation and measures to further enhance defence cooperation between both the countries were discussed during the meeting.
The Turkish Chief of General Staff appreciated achievements of Operation Zarb-e-Azb, and paid rich tributes to Pakistan’s sacrifices in bringing peace and stability to the region.
Meanwhile, the Turkish General also called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Rashad Mahmood in Rawalpindi. Matters of mutual interest with emphasis on geo-strategic situation and security challenges came under discussion during the meeting.
They reaffirmed the resolve to further enhance cooperation between the two Armed Forces.
The visiting dignitary lauded the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in fight against terrorism.
