War affectees warn govt of collective suicide

ISLAMABAD – Kuwait-Iraq War Affectees Action Committee and Voice of Victim Trust on Wednesday again warned the federal government of strong protest and collective suicide against the prolonged delay in release of their claimed amount.
Vice Chairman of Kuwait- Iraq War Effectees Action Committee and Voice of Victim Trust Akbar Azam and President of Ehad Welfare Organisation Rajab Ali Shah told TheNation that case had been in the Supreme Court since 2009 and no decision had been taken yet, besides the OPF was also reluctant to produce record in the apex court which was resulting into the delay in the case decision.
“We are almost 50 people who long marched from Silakot and reached National Press Club where we set a hunger strike camp. The interior minister also ensured us help while PML-N legislator Khawaja Asif also assured that he would come to show solidarity with us. Both did not come and neither they call us. We are living in a camp. We have already attempted suicide in front of National Press Club that was postponed on the assurances of Islamabad Administration but all in vain and now on June 5, we will again stage protest if Supreme Court did not give verdict till June 5,” he warned. Akbar Azam further told that he and her wife both were the patients of Hepatitis B and C and both of them need proper treatment that has been offered from a reputed organisation however he also urged the country men to financially support him, as he could return his loans. It is pertinent to mention here that Akbar Azam and number of such people who were the refugee of Kuwait war had not received the compensation amount while the UN has paid this compensation amount to Government of Pakistan in 2004 but the OPF was not agree to receive any such amount from UN in 2004.
