ISLAMABAD - The Ministry of Culture and Heritage on Tuesday approved Advisory Board of National Language Promotion Department (NLPD), earlier known as National Language Authority, through a notification.
The advisory board is comprised of renowned scholars of Urdu language, researchers and lecturers from all over the country.
The members include Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) Dr Sameena Ameen Qadir, President Urdu Department of Bahauddin Zakariya University Dr Rubina Tareen, Former Teacher at Oreantal College and prominent historian Dr Tabassum Kaashmiri, President Urdu Department of Karachi University Dr Uzma Farman, President Urdu Department of Shah Abdul Latif Bhatai University, Khairpur Dr Mohammad Yusuf Khushk and renowned literary figure Dr Salahuddin Darvesh.
The others are Editor Mahnama Sangat, Balochistan Dr Shah Mohammad Mari, Representative of Area Study Centre Balochistan Dr Abdur Razzaq Sabir, Former President of urdu Department of Peshawer University Dr Nazeer Ahmad Tabassum and Principal F.G College for Women Skardu Dr Uzma Saleem.
The tenure of Advisory Board, comprised of total 15 members, will be three years and five members from the government will also be included.
It is worth mentioning here that the National Language Authority was attached with Ministry of Cultural Heritage, according to the notification No F.13(6)/2000-NLA.
According to the notification, the National language Authority was renamed as National Language promotion Department (NLPD).
The names of high administrative positions have also been changed and now instead of chairman and secretary, Director General and Executive Directors will be written and used.
