KARACHI - Gunmen abducted two Christians working for a South Korean-run hospital at Orangi Town within the limits of Pakistan Bazaar Police on Wednesday, police said. According to DSP Tariq Malik, four armed men stopped a car taking local staff to the hospital. Malik said that three persons including driver Nasir and two other employees Iazeq Simons and Andriaz Javed were in the same vehicle.
“Unidentified armed men stopped the vehicle and asked ‘who is Korean among you?’ They replied ‘none of us’,” he said adding that however, they abducted two of them including a computer operator and an administration assistant. He said no foreigner was in the vehicle as the abducted employees are residents of Mehmoodabad.
Malik maintained that the police teams are trying to track down the kidnappers and recover the staff members. He informed the media that the Korean doctors work at the hospital and live in its premises.
It has been learnt that it is not first incident as a foreign national lecturer had come under attack at Metro Cinema near Banaras Bridge on Nov 28.
It may be said that the kidnapping might be for ransom as such kind of incidents of are on the rise in the city.
