KARACHI – As violence goes on unabated, seven more persons, including a leader of religious organisation, lost their lives in separate incidents here on Thursday.
A local leader of Shia Ulema Council was gunned down in Block-20, FB area, Ancholi in Samanabad Police precincts.
Police said that the victim Danish Abbas Zaidi, 30, son of Ghazanfar Abbas Zaidi, a resident of same area, was present at home when some unidentified culprits called him outside and later shot him multiple times and fled the scene. He died on the spot.
After getting information, police rushed on the spot and shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to his heirs. Police registered a case No27/13 against unidentified culprits.
In another incident, a young man was shot dead in the remits of Rizvia Police Station.
Police said that Aziz Chohan was sitting at workshop to get his motorcycle fixed when some armed riders sprayed bullets on him. He died on the spot. Police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital while unable to ascertain the motive behind the murder. Separately, a man was shot dead in Faqeera Goth within the jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth police station.
Police said that victim Akhtar Gabol, 29, son of Limon Khan, resident of the same area, was sitting at a nearest medical store where unidentified assailants riding a motorbike opened indiscriminate fire at him. Resultantly, he sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot.
The body was shifted to ASH for medicolegal formalities and later handed over to family. Police said that the victim was a local leader of Muttahida Organising Committee, and was a security guard in a private company.
Meanwhile, a tortured body of a man was found in bushes near Hamal Garden, Jam Goth in Memon Goth police limits.
Police said the deceased identified as Muhammad Imran, 30, son of Abdul Aziz, resident of Malir, was kidnapped from somewhere by unidentified culprits. Later they dumped his body at an abandoned place after brutal torture.
Police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem and later handed over to relatives. Police said the deceased was an employee in a garments factory. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained while further investigation was underway.
In separate incident, a bullet-riddled body of a man was found in Sultanabad within the jurisdiction of Manghopir police station. Police said that the victim identified as Shakeel, son of Abdullah, resident of Faqeer Colony, Orangi Town, was kidnapped by unidentified culprits and later they brought him at said place where they shot him multiple times and managed to flee.
The body was brought to ASH for autopsy and later handed over to heirs. Police informed they found 15 empty bullet shells and also found the victim’s motorbike from the crime scene. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.
Separately, an owner of a marble factory Abdul Zakir, 48, son of Shakir, succumbed to bullet injuries during treatment at ASH. Police said that the victim along with his worker was standing outside his factory in Ilyaz Goth in Super Market Police precincts, where some unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire at him. Resultantly, he sustained critical wounds and was shifted to ASH. Police said that deceased had received a slip and threat from extortion mafia.
In yet another strike, a policeman was gunned down in the remits of Gulshan-e-Mamar police post. Police said court bailiff, posted in Maimar Police Post, namely Haddi Buksh was on way to home when unidentified gunmen riding a motorbike targeted him near Memon Farmhouse and fled the scene. The policeman succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
