Navy guard, 2 cops among 10 killed in Karachi

KARACHI -   Five people including a Pakistan Navy security guard, two policemen were shot dead while five decomposed bodies were found on Wednesday.
Fayyaz Qayyum, a Leading Patrol Man who was serving as a security guard of the commanding officer of the PNS Nasar, was shot dead in broad daylight at Main Korangi Road in Defence police precincts.
Police ruled out the possibility of target killing and said the victim was killed over offering resistance in a robbing bid.
SSP South Nasir Aftab said the victim withdrawn rupees 0.5 million from a bank at Korangi Road where gunmen intercepted him and shot over resistance.
The incident occurred at Defence Mor intersection where bandits intercepted the car and opened fire when they saw Fayyaz was taking out his rifle to retaliate. The gunmen shot Fayyaz eight times but rest of the men in the car including senior officer of the Navy and the driver remained safe in the incident. He was taken to PNS Shifa where he succumbed to injuries. The police were trying to make the sketches of the culprits with the help of the driver. No case has been registered yet.
Separately, unidentified armed assailants shot dead a police’s head constable Zahir Shah, 45, in Korangi locality. SHO Irfan Afridi said the victim was deployed at the Anti-Terrorism Court where he used to deliver the courts’ summons. The officer said the victim was going to deliver the courts’ summon to someone when two armed men riding a motorcycle shot him once in his head. The victim cop was the resident of Gulzar Colony.
Earlier, a police constable Malik Naseem, who was posted at the K-9 Unit of the Police’s Special Branch, was shot dead in Pak Colony police precincts. Police officials said the victim was standing near his home when two armed men riding a motorcycle killed him. SHO Munir Chandio said Naseem had joined the police force in 2007 and was posted to the police dog unit since 2011.
Shakeel Suleman, 40, an operator of the lathe machine, was shot dead when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire at the lathe machine factory in Orangi Town over unexplained reasons.
Also in Orangi Town, an elderly man Mursaleen, 70, was killed and Abdul Ghaffar, 25, was wounded in Sector 11.5 in Orangi Town when armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire at a Mazda truck. Police said the victim was going to his hometown Peshawar when the incident took place.
The bodies of four blindfolded men were found from the bushes near link road in Memon Goth police precincts. Police officials said all the victims had the marks of torture and gunshots. Their hands and legs were tied with ropes. SHO Rao Khalid said all the victims were killed after kidnapping. The victims aged from 30 to 35. He said the bodies were moved to morgue for identification.

Similarly, a youth, belonged from the Hindu community, was found dead from Netty Jetty. Police officials said the victim was identified as Vinod, son of Govind. He was the resident of Ranchore Lane and went missing since he left home on April 28. The victim was drowned to death. Further investigation was underway.
