So far 2,670 Hajis brought back to Pakistan

KARACHI - PIA post-Haj operation commenced from October 31. The national flag carrier has so far brought back 2,670 Hajis to Pakistan through six Haj flights, said PIA spokesman here on Wednesday.The first post-Haj flight for Karachi PK-3002 carrying 503 Hajis landed at Karachi at 4:00pm. The passengers of the first Haj flight to Karachi were received by the PIA Station Manager Amir Bashir and other senior officials. The passengers were garlanded on arrival at the Haj terminal Karachi. Hajis arriving at Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta were also garlanded on arrival at their respective stations by the PIA officials.PIA pre-Haj operation of transporting intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia concluded successfully with overall flights punctuality over 96 per cent and seat factor of 99 per cent on October 20.PIA carried a total to 94,019 intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. Intending pilgrims 82,823 through 196 pre-Haj flights; 1,989 through four charter flights from Rangoon. While, 9,207 traveled through PIA regular scheduled flights. The airline will safely bring back 9,931 Hajis to Karachi through 20 post-Haj flights, 17,347 through 35 flights to Islamabad, 17,462 through 35 flights to Lahore and 14,292 Hajis to Peshawar through 44 post-Haj flights. PIA will carry back 13,294 Hajis to Quetta by 41 post-Haj flights, 6,999 Hajis to Multan by 14 flights and 3,498 Hajis to Sialkot by 07 Post-Haj Flights.At the Jeddah Haj Terminal, as the post-Haj flight begins about 100,000 to 80,000 Hajis of different countries reach the airport at the same time to take their respective flights of various airlines. Therefore, security check, immigration and boarding of passengers take considerable time. No aircraft can take off unless each of the passengers has boarded and luggage loaded. Passengers of other countries and airlines are also facing similar situation.PIA Spokesman said that that PIA had earlier advised all Hajis to reach the airport at least 8 hours prior to their flights. The arrival of Hujjaj from Makka is delayed due to traffic congestion between the two Saudi cities and the airlines are bound to carry all the booked hajis on a particular flight.   The PIA management remains in constant communication with Jeddah CAA for speedy security and immigration procedures. Chairman PIA Lt. General ® Asif Yasin Malik remained at Jeddah Haj terminal to oversee proper arrangements for the returning Pakistani Hajis.  PIA spokesman said that no PIA post Haj flight so far was delayed due to any technical reason. PIA officials and aircraft are available and ready at Jeddah Airport for timely departures of PIA Haj flights, he concluded.
