KARACHI- At least four people were injured in an explosion while a rickshaw and motorbike were set on fire in Lyari on Sunday.
According to police, unidentified persons tried to disturb the law and order in parts of Lyari and also set a motorcycle and a rickshaw on fire while also restored to indiscriminate fire. Police said the Uzair Baloch group members were trying to make the strike call successful by creating law and order situation; however, the police responded immediately and took the situation under control.
Later, members of the rival gang fired a rocket in Aath Chowk, injuring four people including a woman. The injured were immediately moved to Civil Hospital, Karachi for medical treatment.
According to SSP Sheraz Nazir, the rocket was fired by the rival group members as one of their comrades’ shop was also came under attack during indiscriminate firing by the Uzair Baloch members. The patrolling and snap checking in city was beefed up following the uncertain situation; however, the law enforcers were asked not to take action against the protesters. Police said that they would not allow anyone to create law and order situation.
3 INJURED IN CLASH BETWEEN RIVALS
At least three people were injured in a clash between two groups in Baldia Town area while police arrested three alleged suspects.
According to details, three people were wounded during a clash between two groups in Baldia Town within the limits of Madina Colony police station. Three people, who were later identified as Iqbal Khan, Shaheryar and Qadir, were wounded in the clash.
They were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi for medical treatment. Police said that the incident took place when two groups collided with each other and restored to indiscriminate fire in a wedding ceremony. A case has been registered while further investigation was underway.
Meanwhile, two suspects allegedly involved in various cases of street crimes were arrested after an exchange of fire with police. The encounter took place when the suspects riding a motorcycle were busy looting valuables from the passersby in Soldier Bazaar. The policemen on routine patrolling reached the site and intercepted the suspects. However, the suspects tried to escape resorting indiscriminate fire at the police team.
In retaliation, the police also fired back, injuring and arresting both the suspects. They were identified as Umair Khan and Arif Rasheed. The cops also claimed to have recovered weapons, a motorcycle and snatched cell-phones from the suspects.
Separately, an alleged Lyari gangster was arrested during an encounter with police in Lyari within the limits of Baghdadi police station. The accused was identified as Shahzad aka Bhari. Police said Shahzad was involved in various cases.
