Court extends physical remand of Kalias

KARACHI - The Judicial and Sessions Judge South Asif Ahmad on Monday extended the physical remand of Munaf Kalia and Javed Kalia till December 3 (tomorrow) on request of the FIA. The accused allegedly involved in financial scam were brought to the court where the FIA had requested the court to grant more time for investigation. Hassan Sabir, the lawyer appeared on behalf of the accused, opposed the further remand saying that the FIA has claimed collecting many documents relating to this case and the accused during the hearing could be further questioned by presenting these documents. However, the court after hearing the comments from both the sides, allowed their further remand. Meanwhile, as many as 37 accused allegedly involved in violence were sent to jail by the Additional and Sessions Court East Hafiz Mohammad Ibrahim Sheikh. The accused include Mohammad Nadeem, Mohammad Fazal, Abdul Mannan, Mohammad Kamal, Musheer Alam, Shehzad, Stephan, Faisal, Irfan and others were allegedly involved in violence within the jurisdiction of Pakistan Bazaar police station on November 29 when the ethnic violence was erupted. In the other court, the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, Anwar Zaheer Jamali, has adjourned the hearing on the bail plea moved by ex-Mukhtarkar Mushtaq Solangi till December 3. The lawyer Mohammad Asharf Qazi appeared on his behalf and submitted his comments before the court. It is pertinent to mention here that the Solangi was arrested when he was appeared before the court of Syed Gull Munir Shah by Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) in the charges for assisting the accused for occupying the land of the former slain Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. One accused, Mohammad Bota, had already in the Karachi's prison in the same charges.
