Security beefed up in Garhi Khuda Bux

KARACHI - Intelligence agencies have warned the concerned authorities that terrorists may hit PPP processions and rallies today (Friday) at Garhi Khuda Bux to be held in connection with the 30th death anniversary of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, well-placed sources confided to The Nation here on Thursday. Secrete agencies have warned the law enforcement agencies that terrorists had planned to attack the gatherings of the PPP workers today at Ghari Khuda Bux, Larkana. According to informed sources, outlawed Lashker-e-Jhangvi and Baloch insurgent groups had allegedly planned to target PPP workers gathered in Garhi Khuda Bux on the occasion of death anniversary of partys founder leader. They could also hit sensitive installations, important religious and political gatherings and security forces. Inspector General Sindh Police, Sultan Salahuddin Babar Khattak, has directed concerned police high-ups to ensure foolproof security arrangements on the occasion and monitor the entry and exit points in the cities of Sukkur and Larkana. He also directed the regional police officers in Hyderabad, Sukkur, CCPO Karachi and additional IG Special Branch to ensure strict security in their respective areas; especially at sensitive points such as entry and exit points, railway stations, tool plazas, flyovers, hotels bus-stands, in order to avert any untoward incident. IGP Khattak has also warned the concerned officers that negligence in duty would not be tolerated. It is pertinent to mention here that a number of rallies of PPP workers and leaders will be organised in connection with Z A Bhuttos death anniversary therefore heavy contingents of the law enforcement agencies have been deployed across the city to thwart any terror incident on this occasion. MQM TEAM to visit GKB A high-level MQM delegation will attend the 30th death anniversary of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto at Ghari Khuda Bux to be held on Friday (today). Talking to The Nation, MQM Rabita Committee Member, Waseem Aftab said that, on the directives Altaf Hussain, top party leaders would be going to attend the anniversary of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto at Garhi Khuda Bux. However, it was not decided who would lead the MQM delegation and how many leaders would participate in the death anniversary of slain former prime minister.
