SHO Defence suspended, demoted

KARACH - Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Karachi Wasim Ahmed has taken action against those officers who had failed to eliminate the street crimes and in this regard he suspended and demoted the SHO Defence here on Saturday. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Defence police station, Farooq Satti, was suspended over negligence and rising of crime rate in his jurisdiction. CCPO Wasim Ahmed took departmental action against him after getting the reports of soaring crimes in the area owing lack of interest in his duty. It is pertinent to mention here that Ahmed, who was reportedly the brother-in-law of Satti along with his three accomplices namely Sohail, Abbas and Misbah was arrested by the Anti Violent Crime Unit (AVCU) on Friday during a raid at New Karachi industrial area. Snatched vehicle and weapons were also recovered from their possession. Sources said that Satti's wife, her sister and another brother had also been imprisoned in charges of robbery. While talking to the media representatives AVCU DSP Shakil Awan said that the investigation was in progress. "Satti's brothers-in-law and sister-in-law have their own criminal gang who have been involved in several cases of robberies," he added. Ahmed confirming the involvement of Satti's relatives in the criminal activities said that Satti would also be dealt in this case if his involvement had proved in the criminal activities with his relatives. Though, the sources informed that recently an accident was taken place in the jurisdiction of Defence police station in which one man was injured. The area police was informed but Satti did not register the FIR while the man had the medicolegal report, the court orders, and the town police officer's orders although the responsible of the accident was released with his vehicle after giving bribe to Satti. They said Satti still had a charge of SHO and was on-duty.
