Massive power breakdown

KARACHI -A big part of the City plunged into darkness due to tripping of KESC transmission line on late Tuesday night.  People of various localities staged violent protest as a KESC vehicle was also set on fire.
Spokesman of Karachi Electric Supply Company, Adil Murtaza said that transmission line of 220KV at Baldia Town had tripped due to some technical fault which disrupted power supply to various areas, including Baldia Town, Orangi Town, Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, Federal B area, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, Surjani Town and other areas of the City.
He said that technical team of KESC was busy resuming the power supply from alternate sources to the affected areas. Unannounced loadshedding will continue in the said areas till resuming of electricity, Murtaza added.
Following the power breakdown, citizens of the said areas strongly protested by coming out on roads. Massive traffic jam was reported on the key roads of the City.

 while commuters and motorcyclists remained stuck due to the situation.
During the protest, the angry protestors also set a truck of KESC on fire at Gol Market, Nazimabad.
However, heavy contingent of the LEAs rushed to the scene and tried to disperse the protesters with aerial firing.
