KARACHI - Pakistan Customs on Wednesday claimed to have foiled a smuggling bid of Iranian oil into Karachi by arresting a gang of seven smugglers.
“The Anti-Smuggling Organisation Model Customs Collectorate of Preventive, Custom House Karachi has seized 26500 liters of smuggled or non-duty paid Iranian diesel along with a wooden boat named Al-Nasiri during an operation in the sea near the coast of Karachi on October 22,” said Chief Collector Customs during a press conference. He said that this historic seizure of smuggled diesel in open sea was made possible by the ASO staff of MCC Preventive despite meager maritime resources.
He added that FIR of the case had been lodged and seven crew members of the boat had been taken into custody.
