Cylinder blast leaves 14 hurt

KARACHI - As many as fourteen people including a woman and two children were wounded as the loud blast of an oxygen cylinder occurred inside Government Hospital in Liaquatabad area on late Friday. While following the incident, elected representatives and the minister reached the spot, said the hospital and police sources. As per detail, the incident occurred here within the jurisdiction of Liaquatabad police station. The aftershocks ripped through the windows panes and the main gate of the hospital. The spot where the blast occurred also caught on fire. The area police told that following the blast, the area people as well as the police and volunteers belonging to the different organisations reached the spot for the rescue works and rushed the victims to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for immediate medical aid. The provincial Health Minister Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, MQM leader Shoaib Bukhari, Town Nazims and others arrived at the hospital and enquired after the health condition of the injured people. While talking to the media representatives, Health Minister Dr. Sagheer Ahmed told that an oxygen cylinder went off damaging a nearby gas pipeline in the incident, while the situation was under control and the victims were being provided treatment properly. Similarly, the officials of the said hospital told that a woman and two children were among fourteen received burn injuries in the incident, while their conditions were out of the danger after providing them immediate media aid.
