JI holds protest demos against price-hike

KARACHI - Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chapter on Tuesday staged more than 35 protest demonstrations at various place in the metropolis against unemployment, poverty and price-hike. Addressing the central protest demonstration held at Numaish Chowrangi, JI leaders denounced the government over its failure to control the price-hike and unemployment in the country. They claimed that government has not taken any step to eliminate poverty and price-hike adding that rice, flour, sugar and pulses prices has broken all previous records due to the failure of government. They demanded the government to freeze the prices of all commodities for two years and provide relief to the oppressed people. They claimed that capitalism was the basic reason behind increasing poverty and price-hike in Pakistan adding that it elimination was impossible without abolishing the interest-based economy in the country.
