KARACHI - The legal fraternity observed Saturday as black day in Karachi and other cities of Sindh against the imposition of emergency in the country by former President and general (retired) Pervez Musharraf on November 3, 2007. On the call of the Sindh Bar Council (SBC) and Karachi Bar Association (KBA), the lawyers observed full day strike and did not appear in the courts. They attended protest meetings organised by the SBC and KBA to condemn the imposition of emergency, promulgation of PCO and other unconstitutional acts, including the dismissal of the Chief Justice of Pakistan along with sixty others judges, five year ago. The lawyers also took out a protest rally from city courts and hoisted black flags on bar rooms. The black day and strike was also observed by the District Bar Associations of Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Nawabshah and Mirpurkhas. This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
